early memories

My earliest memories of running started when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I grew up spending most of my fun childhood memories outside the house with my friends.

After school and on weekends, I would play games with my friends, such as tagaanay, tumba lata, shatong, patintero, takyan, and bending. Sometimes we would run and race to see who would get to the lamp post first wearing tsinelas (slippers). These games didn't cost anything. All you needed was a wide open space, strong lungs and fast legs because there's a lot of running involved. Sometimes, I would run and chase them like crazy. It was such a fun game. Video games didn't exist in my house then!

I remember watching my dad run on the track when I was 9 or 10. He would wake up early in the morning and I would beg him to take me running. I admired his passion, I thought it was great!
