week 7 - sunny, hot and sweaty

It was nice to wake up in a beautiful Saturday morning for a changed. The weather was gorgeous, sunny and dry. It's a bit hot but I can't complain. I know it will only get hotter therefore, it's very important that I hydrate properly before, during and after running. I find it very helpful to bring my own water bottle. We have hydration stations every three miles and also water fountains are everywhere in the park. I usually filled my water bottle with water or Gatorade for every three miles.

I was quietly pleased with my performance yesterday. I ran up the hills and I finished strong. We run twelve miles yesterday but my iPod says 14.57 miles. I might have to buy Garmin Forerunner for more accuracy.

See you next week. Happy running.

week 6 - rain and thunderstorm

Another weekend of horrible weather. I didn't go to my training last Saturday because I don't really like running with a wet socks and a wet shoes, it's just not fun. I wouldn't mind playing in the rain but when it comes down to my training, it's a serious business.

When the weather is not cooperative, I usually head indoors to the treadmill. It's the best rainy-day alternative and it keeps me on pace.

See you next week. Happy running.

week 5 - rain, thunder and lightning

My Saturday's training was cancelled due to weather. I wasn't very happy about it because I woke up 5:00 a.m. and got ready, wondering if it will stop raining. I waited for about an hour and checked my email before I went back to bed and sure enough I recieved an email about the cancellation. I'm glad I didn't go.

On Sunday morning I woke up at 5:00 a.m. as usual and got ready for my training. The weather was just perfect -- clear skies, cooler temperature and windy, it's my ideal running weather.

My training went very well, 10 miles seemed like a walk in the park. I finished strong and my endorphins are pumped.

See you next week. Happy running.

week 4

Last Saturday's training was a piece of cake. The weather was in the 60's, it was perfect for 9 mile run. I felt great after my training. I also figured it out how to get there quicker. After training, our group had breakfast, however I haven't been to any of the breakfast because I always prefer my breakfast smoothie. Perhaps next time, when we run 13 miles or so, I will reward myself with some delicious pancakes or some belgian waffles.

See you next week. Happy running.
